hi,

I have an ibook with an odd problem. It recently stopped working, so it got fixed, fixed again and finally was deemed dead due to a faulty logic circuit or some such problem.

Upon recent examination, it does work, however the screen stays blank. ie. you can turn it on, it whirrs, the cd tray will open and when pushed; the num/caps lock lights turn on.

Any idea what is causing this (i would open it, but i don't have a hex key small enough :p).

thanks, Whiternoise.

Are you referring to the screen being blank? If so it could be the LCD backlight or backlight inverter. Also could be the flex data cable.

thanks for the info, but i found out it's a logic board problem that's quite common with that line of ibook's. Also i found out that it's already been fixed three times.. so not much point doing it again :p

Yep, I was about to mention that. Unfortunately, the inverter is built into the logic board so the whole board needs to be replaced. Very, very common in those iBooks...
