Weird task bar locking and ie locking up

hi , i have this really weird problem and its is really bugging me when i open internet explorer at random times when opening new pages etc scrooling down my taskbar locks up or my desktop does.... and i press ctrl+alt+delte to open taskmanager and it fixes it until i next open up ie (it always tends to be ie doing it) i have reinstalled my os from xp(when it started) to win2k(still happened) then reinstalled xp again and it still happens all my drivers etc are up to date my sys specs are

Amd 1600 xp +
Abit at7 max
512 ddr pc 2100
40 gig quantum hd
geforce 4 ti 4200

it never used to happen so im wondering why it has started any one help?

Have you done a clean install of your OS? Meaning format everything then install, or did you just update/install over?

This could be your problem as it is inherit from one OS to the other.

yeh it was a complete install format etc i cant work it out
