what about this simultaneous release of Half Life games?

my question will sound silly,but i feel very confused about it,i played half life 2 and HL2 episode 1 and i was waiting for the release of HL2 episode 2,but now i'm seeing there are HL2 episode 2,orange box,portal,team fortress...,can anyone tell me what these new releases are all about and what should i buy exactly?(i don't play online multiplayer games).

I believe you can buy Half-Life 2: Episode 2 by itself for $29.99. Team Fortress is an online game so you can skip that one & Portal is a single-player experimental FPS so it might be worth looking into once you've finished Episode 2.
