what can i get to replace ide ribbons?

can anyone tell me what i can get to replace ide ribbons? i know you can just get a sata hard drive + get serial ata cables( i just got rid of a wd 170aa 17gb ata hdd, + got a samsung sp2504c 250gb 8mb hdd with a belkin serial ata cable that glows under black light). but what about cd/dvd drives + floppy disk drives? my cd/dvd drives have both got ide ribbons + so has my floppy disk drive. can someone share there knowledge with me as ide ribbons arent very good for ventilation....thank you in advance
