Whats wrong with my dvd-writer it don't burn dvds writes cd's just fine..sony dru-710..am attachign the error logs LOG file 1

What brands and speeds of media do u use? In addition, do u use -R or +R? Also, please post ur PC specs here.

i'v tried everything +r's -r's sony , edgetec , samsung , moserbaer ...some dvd's it will write but gives crc errors some it refuses to accept saying "please insert a empty disc"...and i burn all at the lowest possible speed 1x/2x..most media is 16x compatible.

i'm using a p4 2.8ghz with ht , 1gb ram , fx5200 gfx card 128mb , 200gb and 160gb hdd's...space is definately not a problem..i'm guessing the writer is faulty

this seems to answer a few questions though..i think i'l just buy another writer which supports crap media lol

What's really wrong with your writer:
1. Replace User.
2. Learn2Write imo.

You shoul also check to see if the drive is operating in DMA mode or PIO. check the IDe channel the drive is on in device manager uner IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. if it shows PIO mode then uninstall the IDe channel and reboot. windows will reinstall the IDE channel and the drive when it restarts.
