I know I can shop around but I was on tigerdirect today and there are only 3 P4 socket 478 chips left. anybody know why this is? there isnt even a list of socket 478's on the main CPU page anymore

Well socket 478 is a dead technology...LGA775 (socket T) is the replacement.

Kinda weird how the only have three tho....i mean its "dead" but it is still widely used.

yea- just a week ago, they had dozens of them. even newegg doesn't seem to have as many as before. i was looking for a northwood but i only saw a 533fsb

it is the replacement but does that mean socket 478's will fit in the LGA775? probably not, huh? I already bought a 478 MoBo thinking that I was going to use the CPU that I currently have, but I want to upgrade to 800fsb.
