Hi, this is another PSU problem, and I'm sorry if the solution is somewhere in this forum.

Basically one day my case PSU decided to die, and the computer wouldnt switch on. Upon buying a cheapy 600W PSU from ebuyer.com (Magna ATX 600W), the computer worked again. However it was prone to crashing and random resets. So ok, I blamed it on the fact that it was a cheap PSU. So I went to Maplin and bought a more expensive 400W one (Mercury 400W), but still the same problems again. What could be the problem in this case? both new PSU's must be better than my case one, could the problem be elsewhere?

MSI K8N Neo
Athlon 64 2800+
512Mb Crucial DDR400 Memory
MSI Geforce FX5200
MAxtor Diamondmax 80Gb
Older 30gb Harddrive
Sony DRU-710A DVD writer
Older DVD reader
Floppy disc drive

Thanks,
Ed

You have some nice componants and the new psu should be ok.
It is possible the original psu may have taken out the MoBo.
Do you have another system to test out your devices?

Also look into all the updates:
MSI K8N Neo
Geforce FX5200
