In a word no. Both use different dimm slots and are not compatible with each other.

So SDRAM is the type of memory like flash memory and stuff, DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 are variations of it, and the DIMM is the plug.

As of 2007, 168-pin SDRAM DIMMs are not used in new PC systems, and 184-pin DDR memory has been mostly superseded. DDR2 SDRAM is the most common type used with new PCs, and DDR3 motherboards and memory are widely available, but more expensive than still-popular DDR2 products.

So, while most ram is of the SDRAM type, there are differences in the number of pins/performance and the dimm slots they fit into.

Hmmm... What I meant is that will DDR RAM work in a DDR 2 plug, but then it'd be super slow. It'd be nice if we had an External multi-ram case, where you could fit more the the 8 gig motherboard limit. What genius thought putting computers in a box was a good idea?

No, ddr doesnt work in a ddr2 dimm slot.
