Windows 2000 Server SP4 Installation at 5 months and counting

Hi all.

OK, I might be wrong, but our server at work gets updates via Windows Update. This appears to work fine, except one - Win2k SP4 downloaded ok. It appears to have installed OK, but theres one problem - WIndows Update reports it as still 'in progress'. There's also a folder on the C drive of the server with the characteristic randomness of windows update temp folders, which can't be removed because an exe file inside there is still in use.

I've not managed to turn anything up with my good friend Google, has anyone here experienced this problem?

Regards,
James

A bit late with the update, aren't you? SP4 came out in June 2003!
It's best to download the whole file (for socalled network distribution), about 150MB, and install that OVER the one that's trying at the moment.
Then you will need another 30 or so MS updates to bring it up to scratch.
Have fun.
