Your description is rather vague (using a web-translator?).
Can you boot without a floppy, and what do you get then?
Which Windows version do you have, and in what language?
I can help in English/French/German/Dutch/Swiss dialekt.

Hi Buddy
Sorry I forgot to give more info about this pc: It has win98Se, pentium III and as mentioned before I can open windows. here is what I did:
1.- I started from a boot disk but all what i get is the C prompt only.
2.- With and without the bootdisk I tried to start in safe mode pressing F8 and I got the normal menu.
3.- Pressing any of the options all what I get is the C prompt.
Just what canI do.Tks fyr help in advance

When in dos mode...try type c:\dir/w/p and press enter...and then tell me what u got there...is it too many files or u can just only see a few?

You mean you get the 7 or 8 point menu when you press F8 upon startup?
And nothing after that?
Please ask your child what he/she did exactly.
Looks like he/she wiped most of your disk, OR, managed to edit the c:\autoexec.bat and c:\config.sys
Can you check if these 2 files are still on your harddisk? Both can be opened with Notepad.
Copy and paste their contents here, so we can have a look.
Also check if there is: c:\windows or c:\win or c:\win98

Hi buddies, here is what i did:
I typed c>dir/w/p and I got
Autoexec.bat Scandisk.log Command.com (Windows) Keycfg.dat
Autoexec.dos (misdoc. 1) (archiv 1) (Program 1) (myfiles)
(cdmate) (unzipped) (cnessn 1) (games) (tecmedia)
(vixen) (sierra) (progra 2) access 1 link (NTS)
gamecr 1.exe accsess 2.link (rcp_cd) 261639.bat (euroka 1)

After pressing F8:
the menu has 6 points as follows
1. normal
2.- started session
3. safe mode
4. only sys prompt
5. only sys prompt in safe mode

with any of them what i get is the prompt C> and from there on nothing.
What can o do, appreciatte yr help

His dir-command showed the windows directory in place, so I dispensed with the niceties.
I also think the autoexec.bat has been tampered with, and probably starts this dubious file 261639.bat.
We'll see...

Hi guys
Here is something i did and compared with another pc:
I wrote c:>cd windows ---- c:>windows
in the pc that works fine and it is Dos mode when i type c:>windows/win.com inmediately windows starts
but when i do the same with the pc problem ,the response is:
Himen.sys in not found
make sure is in windows directory

but i chk the c:/windows/dir/w/p and in both pc i can see this
file but I dont know why it does not start. If you continue helping
it will be welcome

Show us the contents of your autoexec.bat and config.sys files, as I asked before.

But I think you may have to reinstall. You could do that over the existing W98, so you would not lose any programs or data.
But first you need to find out what your child has done.

Again thanks for your rsponse, to this time all what i know my child borrowed the floopy to his friend and all he can tell me is that the next day after putting the diskette in the pc windows didnot start.
Please let me know how can i see the two files in DOS and copy in order you can see.
thanks

I assume you are working from another computer.
Start that W98 PC. When you are in C> insert an empty formatted floppydisk in the drive.
Type in the following commands
copy autoexec.bat a: and press enter-key
copy config.sys a: and press enter-key
Take that floppy to the working computer and insert it in the drive.
Click Start/Run and type in notepad a:\autoexec.bat and click on OK
You can now copy and paste it into your web-message. Close Notepad.
Click Start/Run and type in notepad a:\config.sys and click on OK
You can now copy and paste it into your web-message. Close Notepad.

Realblackstuff:
here are the copies you asked me:
Autoexec.bat

C:\ARCHIV~1\PERAV\PERVACD.EXE /BOOT
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\\SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:100
REM [Header]
@ECHO OFF

REM [CD-ROM Drive]

REM [Miscellaneous]

REM [Display]

REM [Sound, MIDI, or Video Capture Card]

REM [Mouse]

mode con codepage prepare=((850) c:\windows\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850
keyb la,,c:\windows\COMMAND\keyboard.sys

Config.sys

device=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
Country=052,850,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\country.sys

I hope with them you can guide what I can do, by the way I mentioned before that a message File himem.sys is not found, but I checked the Windows directory and this file is there. Just in case i hae to install windos again how is done from the c prompt?
thanks

Your PC is badly infected with W32.HLLW.Razac@mm

Symantec has this solution:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllw.razac@mm.html

First though you could try to modify autoexec.bat, it should look like:
@ECHO OFF
mode con codepage prepare=((850) c:\windows\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850
keyb la,,c:\windows\COMMAND\keyboard.sys
and nothing else.

Your config.sys file is fine.

Also, there is most likely a file autoexec.bat.bat with 2x .bat in the name.
This must be deleted first.
Now try to boot into Windows.
I don't have much hope though.

Start looking for someone in your area (Mexico must have plenty computer-savvy people) to help you with first backing up your personal data, then reinstalling W98.

If you have nothing important on that PC, then boot from the Windows98 bootfloppy with CD-rom support, and insert your W98 CD to start afresh.
You can get bootfloppies, and instructions how to make them, from www.bootdisk.com.
Find HOW TO GUIDES FOR DOS AND WINDOWS 95/98 there as well, scroll down a bit.

Realblackstuff:
Really was a bad notice with the virus that the pc has. Well I write correctly the autoexec.bat and then i tried to boot but no goods nwes beacuse I always had the c> prompt. I wrote win.com after it and the message i got is that the Himem.sys is not in windows directory however i did a Dir and it is there, why?
Any i think i will have to reinstall again Win98Se and by all means I thank you for all the help you gave me.
