Windows explores vs. Video files

Hello,

I have a problem! Every time I want to see my video (mpeg, avi) in a folder I get an error messaage: "Windows explorer encountered a problem and needs to shut down. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then all my opened folders close. I need to get this fixed. Can anyone help?

Windows tries to create thumbnail views for .AVI files.

It usually crashes with all the effort.You can stop thumbnail views by -

going to Start/Run/ typing : regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll /click OK
