Windows Install

Im trying to install windows XP, and each time i go though the install files can not be wrote. Ive tried my windows disk and a friends, both with the same errors! does this mean my hdd has bad sectors? or something else? is it something i can fix?

well it kind of depends on what the errors are. write down the errors and google them or post them in here

Thre are no errors perse, just that a few files (mainly .dll and .sys) cant be witen to teh windows folder before the install :/

Often just a dirty disc will stop the install.
You have an option at the beginning of installation to copy the whole install files to Disk and then install from there.
Or you can perform the copy and start commands by using a Dos boot disk.
It works if you have at least 2 partitions on your
HDD.
Place the files on the partition you are Not putting Windows on.

You may also want to try borrowing your friend's cdrom drive. They make them fast and cheap nowadays and i've seen plenty of bad ones.
