Windows Media Player - Removing dead "Links"

Hi.... recently my friends added an external harddrive to my computer so i could give him some files... unknown to me he had about 4gb of music on it aswell which Media player had detected and decided to add to my library.... now he has taken it away the music remains on it, and there are about 6000 files that arent my music on it, although i cant play them. The problem is that there are so many i cant just sift through them and delete one by one, i need either a way of finding all the dead links that dont work to delete them all at once or how can i jsut delete everything and ill just put all my music back on it..
