Windows updates won't install after repair install of os

Hi,

my computer (amd 3200+, 1 gig pc 3200, 6800 128mb) was becoming unstable so I done a repair install of windows (after ruling everything else out).

It works well now... except that it has 84 updates listed under automatic update that won't install. Even when the computer shuts down, it says "installing updates", but doesn't - it just shuts down. If I do it manually from the task bar, it also fails to install any of them.

If I go to the automatic update website, it fails again - last time I tried it said that it couldn't determine my os (though under my computer, it confirms I have sp2) and needs to check I have a genuine sp2 - so it tries to install the microsoft genuine confirmation tool (not the correct name but something like that) but it fails to install.

Anyone know what's going on?

Well done.

Now it's just the update, update again and so on option at MS
Make sure after all updates are complete, that you go back and update again (usually a whole bunch of new ones popup) updates on updates.
