Windows XP black screen

I tried booting my XP today and a balck screen pops up(couldn't even see the logo screen), it keeps trying to reboot(from the sound) and never loads. I tried to restart the system by safe mode and it didn't work. Also tried to boot from XP CD, but cudn't open the CD drive. I am not sure how to proceed further, any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a hardware failure. What are your system specs?
