Total Noob here so please be kind ... My roommate thought that a "briefcase" was exactly the same as a "folder" but with a cooler icon. So, he moved all of his college work (mostly word documents) into the briefcase. Since there's a fancy "update documents" button, he thought, why the hell not? He updated and, as we are not connected to a network (other than our DSL), all of his files disappeared. I tried running a system restore (maybe that was a mistake?) which retrieved the original folder containing all his work, but the folder was empty of documents. So, is there any way to retrieve these files? Also not sure if I'm posting in the correct section. Sorry, and thanks in advance for responses.
