Windows XP Home Activation Error

Hi guys

I have a small problem where i've recently had to format my computer and reinstall everything (i've done this quite a few times due to spyware and viruses etc). Now when i try to re-activate my windows version it tells me that i have used my product key too many times and must now find a new key to use??

It wont let me activate anymore??

Any help?

is this trying to activate it via the net? usually when you reformat and reinstall you have to call microsoft and they will give you a new activation code after asking you if XP is installed on just one machine.

Hmm ive never known about that and i was tring to activate via the net.

I live in Australia so what number would i use to call microsoft to activate my version of XP?

if you run the activation wizard again, instead of choosing to activate online choose offline or "by phone" and it should provide the number to call.

anyway,
you can actually change your product key, if you're running vlk version of xp, according to this kb from microsoft:

i'm not sure if you can do that for full retail, oem or not.
