Windows XP pro question

Hi,

I just bought a used laptop that has XP pro installed with COA sticker on the laptop. Unfortunately, the HD is fried so I need to replace it and re-install XP pro. Since I have a COA on the laptop, I can just get a XP pro OEM version w/o COA. But do I have to know which XP pro version the laptop came with originally? Or can I just get whatever XP pro version I can find, whether it is with SP2 or without SP2, and it will work fine with my COA?

Thanks!

Well

Read the COA sticker on the laptop, it will state if it was SP2 or not.

From my past dealings, there must be differnt COA coding with SP2 install CD's as I have not been able to install a non-SP2 COA on a SP2 install.

If this is a problem where you can not get a non-SP2 disk, just call microsoft and they should be able to issue you a SP2 valid COA.
