I want to use windows XP home on a second computer.
I have the CD from an old compaq PC (the sticker on the back of the case)
I lost the XP Home CD and dont know anyone that has it.
everyone seems to be using the Pro these days.
Is there any way I can get the install files? I dont wanna fork out $$ jus to get the install files (and an extra CD Key)

btw, is there a way to check if this CD Key I have will work? I dont wanna go through the trouble of taking out win98 and finding out the winXP CD Key is invalid..

The keys you find on OEM machines only work on OEM machines (most of the time). You can't use an XP Pro cd with an XP home key anyways.

Thats dirty... I dont see the difference with OEM windows and retail windows. UNLESS you count all the junk progs thats installed with OEM. Thanks for answering my questions Didou =]

The sticker entitles you to a copy of OEM Windows XP Home. Just download the thing off the internet, borrow it, make a bootleg copy or ask the computer manufacturer to give you one.

The key will only work with the version of Windows specified on the sticker.
