Wireless-G connection spiking.

Hello i have a Wireless-G Broadband Router and a Wireless-G PCI Adapter. I can really tell i 'm getting a lag spike when i' m a FPS type game Counter-strike: Source.

Wireless-G model number : WRT54G Version 8

Wireless-G PCI Adapter model number : WMP54G Version 4

My OS is Vista 64bit.

I hope this is enough information for anyone to help me i would gladly apperiate it that you took some time out to help a noob.

Things i have tried-

Changed to different channels

Updated Firmware.

Is it ok if you are cabled to your Router rather than wirelessly connected?
I find that a wireless connection isn't reliable enough to play online video games due to packet loss.

Are you far from the wireless access point? Are there walls or doors closed or anything that gets in the way of your wireless connection? Things like that can make a difference.

i have in in the same room for now trying while trying to fix this problem.

I have heard of those getting their wireless to not get lag spiking but no explanation on how.

yes i would like to use wireless when i move to the other room.

Found a way and got it fixed thanks to a friend of mine!

if anyone else has this problem this is how i fixed it i got this program called Val Vista Anti-Lag. lol funny name but it ROCKS.
