wondering about my desktop

hi there! i needed help once again

im an aspiring technician and i want to know everything there is to know about troubleshooting and i have this one problem about the desktop...that every time it reboots, all the icons in the desktop disapperas but when u look in the desktop folder in ur account's documents all the icons are there! so i have to transfer it once again on the desktop, then once again after it reboots, still the same! no icons on the desktop...im not sure if it coz of viruses and malwares...i really have no idea...hope u guys can help me
