World of Tanks Twitch streamer Brian “PoShYbRiD” Vigneault has died of unknown causes while taking part in a 24-hour charity livestream event at his home.

According to PVPLive, the 35-year old left his desk at around 3:30am CST - 22 hours into a stream marathon that was raising money for the Make-A-Wish foundation - to go “for smokes.” He still hadn’t returned by 11am, leading those on his Twitch chat to assume the father of three had fallen asleep.

At around 7pm, one of Vigneault’s viewers noticed he had appeared online in Discord and sent him a message. But it was a detective who responded, informing them that the streamer had passed away.

The Virginia police homicide unit are still investigating Vigneault’s passing, which is standard procedure for any suspicious deaths. "There is no reason at this time to suspect foul play,” a spokesperson told Polygon.

While there have been several cases of individuals dying as a result of marathon gaming sessions in Asian countries, the cause of death in this instance has yet to be confirmed. PVP Live speculates that Vigneault, who was known for chain smoking and drinking during streams, died of heart complications brought about by sleep deprivation.

World of Tanks publisher Wargaming.net gave the following statement: “Wargaming is saddened to hear of the loss of streamer and tanker Brian Vigneault, aka ‘PoShYbRiD, a devoted player of World of Tanks and contributor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We offer our most sincere condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Vigneault's gaming clan, FAME, posted a tribute on its Facebook page.

"...we just can not find words to describe how sad is this moment for all of us and for sure this game will not be the same without the legend," it states. "Maybe the saddest lines can not really be written, and the saddest thoughts can not really be uttered."

A "24-hour marathon" is a normal working day for people in the Eastern Europe. And it doesn't include sitting on a chair.

Western cultures have things easy.

That's very sad. Sounds like it could have been a blood clot from sitting for so long. The world of tanks dev's should donate to the make a wish foundation in his name as a good will gesture as he was using their game to do some good for others.

The ignorance is strong with this one.

You should discuss this 'ignorance' with doctors that work 24 hours (from 7 AM until the next 7 AM) and THEN they have to stay for another 8 hours for the normal work day.

In France after a 24 hours shift medics have the day free. Not in Eastern Europe.

A Pulmonary Embolism due to a deep vein thrombosis from sitting for 22 hours.

Agreed, If he had worn compression socks he might have still been around but most people don't think of using such things unless traveling on a long flight. Also most people aren't even aware that they may be susceptible to these conditions. I bet he didn't take any medical advice or research sitting for such a long duration either.

You are assuming he was sitting the whole 22 hours, he may have stretched and what not every other round, gone to the kitchen for a coffee, soda or water, enough to cut the sitting streak. It sounds really odd that a 35 year old died because of sitting for too long and only been up for 6 more hours than the average person (Considering 8 hour sleep, some people only go for 6 hours). He just had terrible health.

You've never served in the Military have you? It's a 24/7 job and for far less pay than a doctor. The "ignorance" is strong with this one. I highly doubt they work 24hrs straight as France has some pretty liberal labor laws, but I can't speak to that as I am not in France, but I can speak to the Mil being a 24 hrs.

Sounds like France has a shortage in motivated individuals who like money.

A doctor in Eastern Europe makes maybe 500 euros per month. The ones who make 1000 euros are already in a better financial condition than most people.

Of course, there are informal payments here and there, but the fact remains: people in countries other than G7 work more for way waaaay less money. While in rich countries you can be a game streamer. That's a non-existent occupation for a large portion of the world.

My wife died of a Pulmonary Embolism caused by terminal Cancer... She was 33. This man could of had an underlying condition combined with reduced activity through gaming so much that put him at a higher risk. Getting up for a coffee every round may not have been enough. His age has little to do with it.

We are assuming that the person in question didn't have a health problem, or else there wouldn't be much of an investigation. Sorry about your wife but as you said, she had a terminal cancer which involves a whole series of other issues.

That is what you get for being in socialist countries and electing the same government over and over. If you believe you can't be a game streamer in non-rich counties, you have already given up and you can blame that on your own laziness and your government handing you crap for doing nothing. Sure you may get enough to get you by, but you are not living your dream. If you want it bad enough you will make it happen. This world and your success is what you make of it based on how much effort you put forth. Stop listening to BS about how bad you have it and do something about it.
Doctors getting paid **** is also a result of your county being socialist. When doctors or anyone who should make a hell of a lot of money for the importance of their work get no where near what they should as a result of their country "regulating" health care, then why the hell would anyone want to be in those professions? However, I bet if you ask some of them why they are doing it, you will get the "Because I want to help people and make a difference", which you can't put a price on, therefore they do it because they want to, regardless of pay.

Why is it up for debate whether the man had a health problem. Is this common for you to discuss when family or friends pass away? I guess, maybe it is for some of you.... Just show your condolences and move on or don't post at all.

Then again, had he not been streaming at the time, none of this would be made possible.

I feel bad for making this post.

Are you looking for donations or something? Come to America if you're so miserable there. People do it all the time.
