Well, every time I boot up my computer, I get a lot of pop-ups, errors, etc. When I go to the Processes tab in my Task Manager, here's what I see that's unusual.

ismini.exe
issrch.exe
issearch.exe
isnotify.exe
ishost.exe
NOTEPAD.EXE (Not sure why it's open...)
NOTEDAD.EXE
wdfmgr.exe
Explorer.exe (A capital E at the beginning, not the regular explorer.exe)

Here's the log I get off HiJackThis.

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your system is absolutely riddled with malware, in fact, it`s one of the worst infected systems I`ve seen in a while. You`re running a completely unpatched version of Windows and you`re not running any antivirus or firewall software.

Download and burn the following to CD.

AVG free or Avast antivirus programmes.

Zonealarm Kerio or Comodo free firewall programmes.

Then, I recommend you disconnect from the net and reformat the system drive.

Reinstall Windows, then whatever firewall software you chose and reconnect to the net. Run Windows updates and install service pack2.

Install whatever drivers you need, then install whatever antivirus programme you chose, followed by whatever programmes you want.

Reformatting will delete everything including any malware. In systems that are severely infected, it is quicker, easier and cleaner to reformat.

BTW, depending upon whether you meant to say "then" or "than," the meaning of your sentence changes completely.

So, it'd be better to reformat then try to delete all my malware?

Yes, that is my recommendation, due to the fact your system is absolutely riddled with malware, you`ve no antivirus or firewall software and you`re running an unpatched version of Windows.

However, if you really want to have a go at cleaning your system, then I suppose we could try, but please be warned, there is no guarantee that your system will work properly afterwards.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

Regards Howard :)
