XP 2100+ Overclock "Cannot Create d3d device"

Recently I've been overclocking my rig so I can get smoother framerates in Team Fortress 2.

XP 2100+ (1.7ghz)
nForce 2 mobo
ATI X800 XL

The FSB usually runs at 133mhz. The highest I can set the FSB without crashing is 161mhz which bumps the speed up to 2.093ghz (13 x 161 = 2093). Windows boots up fine, and Everest registers the overclock and the new speed. However, when I try to start up TF2, I get a "Cannot Create d3d Device" error message. I get the same message whenever I try to load any game.

I've been testing and the highest FSB I can set and not get the above error message is 146mhz, which gives me a speed of 1.9mhz. Does anyone know why I'm getting the error message at FSB speeds of 147mhz and above, or how I can get rid of the error message.

many of the later XP series cpus are locked. only certain batches were known to be overclockers. For OC questions, please go to that forum.

Youll need to lock the AGP Bus at 67

Note that increasing FSB also increases RAM Speed, so you'll probably need to run a divider - what speed RAM is in it?

You'd probably be better off saving your $ and building someting newer.
Even a cheap E2140 Core2 would be tons faster.

Or you could grab a better Video Card - like a used 6600GT.
