Can anyone help me please?

My old hard disk failed, so i had an old spare (perfect working condition) that had windows xp on it, installed it. When i boot up, the HD is recognized and sounds like it initiates, i get an error saying: 'we appologise for the iconvenience....blah.....blah.' offers me safe mode options and last know good confgiguration. i selected safe mode - PC reboots, same process al over again and like wise for other safe mode options.

So i put my xp cd in the dvd drive and rebooted.

I the still get the same issue, the CD doesnt boot.

checked bios for boot priority - cd 1st (no details)
floppy 2nd (with details -dd menu)
Hard disk (with details - dd menu)
Network install. (no details)

Any ideas how i can get this hard disk up n running? Should i format it on another machine (as slave)?

Select the drive in the Boot options menu and disable it as a boot device. You should still be able to format it and install to it I would think.
