XP dosen't start!

Hi! Nice too meet you! I'm new here.
Some days ago I went to a friend. I re-installed his OS (Win. XP Pro.) because he had some problems with the old one. (worms, trojans etc.). I formatted drive C:, I installed XP...thr computer boot perfectly. I installed the LAN, sound and video driver (I restarted the PC after every driver install). Everyting was allright. After that we turned off the computer and went to the Mall. That evening, when he went back home he tried to turn on his computer. The PC showed the BIOS image, but after that (when, usually, XP should show the loadign screen) the screen turned black. He tried to start his PC many times, but with no success.
His configuration:
-ASUS MOBO
-Intel P4 3GHz
-512 RAM
-ASUS ATI Radeon 9550 128MB
His BIOS is America Megatrends.

He tried to press F8 when XP should start, but nothing happened.

Can you please tell me what is his problem?

I posted a problem this morning that was almost exactly the same... though a different configuration... can't boot from cd because the process does not get far enough to ask

try booting from OS cd and change your boot order then boot from dvd/cd rom
