XP RAM under 512 ?

My old notebook has 384 RAM and am wondering if this is sufficient for XP. I know that ms says 128 is minimum so I should be ok but when I ask people about whether I can upgrade from win ME to XP I get varying responses. I can't fit any more RAM in this old notebook. I don't play games but would like to use 2 or 3 apps simultaneously. My processor is Pent III speed 700 ... that should be ok.

a. So while 384 is indeed above the min requirement is it practically ok ?
b. Are there others out there using less than 512 ?
c. Someone said that they had to change their BIOS to upgrade from ME ?

It will run on that. You'll probably want to use some tweak programs like TweakXP and turn off all the eye candy. Also don't use the blue or olive colors that XP likes to use by default, make it look like Windows 2000.
