Hi. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide. (This is a invaluable site).

I have 2 accounts on my computer. Both have admin privledges. My account can select the Search option and the proper 'box' displays allowing me to enter text, select search options, etc. At the bottom of the dialog box is an animated dog. I enter the search information, and after a few moments, I see the result.

My son has the 2nd account. When he selects the Search Option, all he sees is the dog at the bottom - there is no other text, or input fields or anything else on the screen. Search is not possible from his account.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

ps. In a different post, I have described a similar problem with Windows Media Player.

Well great news! With a little bit of luck, I managed to find the solution.

I had to first run:

(courtesy of http://usenow.tripod.com/

SUBINACL - tool for resetting security settings to default in XP using subinacl tool (works on XP home as well as XP Pro)

RESET.BAT -command to run the subinacl tool

INSTRUCTIONS:

For best results, download and save the subinacl and the reset file on your desktop
Step 1. install the subinacl tool by double clicking on the file
Step 2. run the reset file, note: the reset file will run for 10 or more minutes. Then restart the computer

After running the above, I then followed the instructions found in:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831430

Thought I would post this to help the next person who might come across this post with the same problem.

Regards
