XP Stop Error #24

I am receiving a the following error regargless of whether i try to start up in safe mode or regularly:
*** STOP: 0x00000024 (.....)

What I was trying to do:
I had just successfully made a 10GB NTFS partition on my 80GB drive and decided to make another.

Why I was doing this:
In case my hard drive failed.

When it happened:
In the middle of the second partition making process (Partition Magic 8.0, which by the way has useless support options without a credit card) my computer froze, so I left it for 15 or so hours just hoping it would stop playing this practical joke on me and continue working. Not So. Rebooted and always get this BSoD Stop error.

What I have tried to do:
-Swearing. Loudly, softly and creatively, none of these resolved the error
-Since I can't boot to Safe Mode of Safe Mode with Command Prompt. I changed my BIOS to boot to my CD drive and put a XP Professional cd in so I could boot to dos and use CHKDSK. CHKDSK found one error. CHKDSK /f is an invalid procedure or something (the microsoft page on Stop error 24 says to try this). And CHKDSK /R didn't fix anything.

Any help will be very much appreciated and hopefully rewarded with great karma for at least 3 months!
