ZoneAlarm disabled my Windows Firewall...permanently?

I downloaded ZoneAlarm a few months ago, it seemed to work pretty good. Then my older brother got his laptop and a wireless router, he seemed to notice that the Windows Firewall looked like this (pictures will be shown) and you can't change it. Also ZoneAlarm isn't letting him acess the internet unless I turn the firewall thats on Zone Alarm to OFF, but thats not good (obviously). Any idea on what to do?

It could be a spyware problem,or a software "glitch" problem.

To check up on the Windows firewall, go to Start/Run/type : services.msc

then double click the Windows firewall/ICS service and check that it`s running.

If that fails - Delete these keys if they exist, then reboot.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall
\DomainProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall
\StandardProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

There is a special case related to SP2 HERE

If none of that works, you probably have spyware.

Go HERE follow the instructions then post an HJT log in this thread. This would be a good idea in any case.

As for Zone Alarm, the innocent explanation is the program permissions are blocking

Generic Host Processes or your browser.Or that ZA needs reinstalling.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Go and read this thread HERE, then post a fresh renamed HJT log.
