EVGA's SPD Utility

The EVGA SPD Utility expands the list of EVGA Award Winning Utilities; with this program users of the EVGA X58 Classified can flash SPDs of different memory types onto a backup and safe ROM on the Motherboards. Users will be able to experiment and run their memory with different SPDs, without any risk to their memory.

Saving an SPD File from RAM

If users wish to share their SPD of their RAMs with other users, or to keep for future use, EVGA SPD Utility allows this easily. First, open up the EVGA SPD Utility:

Selecte the DIMM which you wish to save the SPD.

In this example above, user wishes to save SPD of the RAM in DIMM slot 1. Click Read to Read the SPD first.

Then, click save to file to save the SPD.

Flashing an SPD File to Backup ROM

You've downloaded some SPD files of various Memory you wish to try out? To protect your RAMs, you will not be able to flash SPDs onto your RAMs, only the Backup ROM on the Motherboard.

First, load the SPD you wish to try by clicking Load File.

Direct the Utility to the SPD of choice. Now click Flash.

Wait some time till you see flash is done. You can only store one SPD on the Backup ROM at any time, so if you flash a SPD when your Backup ROM already has one stored, the older SPD will be replaced by the newer one.

Using the SPD

Now that you've flashed your SPD of choice into the Backup Rom, to use it, go into the BIOS.

Go into Frequency/Voltage Control > Memory Feature : Select Memory SPD, and select User's SPD ROM which means that the BIOS will grab the SPD of the custom file you've flashed, instead of from the RAMs.

Save and Exit. If you do not like the SPD that you've selected, simply set the memory SPD option back to standard.
