TorrentSpy is still facing heavy legal issues, despite their recent decision to stop operating in the U.S. While it might be difficult to extract anything from the company if they don't have a U.S. presence, the courts have still been hounding them.
Most recently, their lawsuit against the MPAA has been tossed out. TorrentSpy accused the MPAA of intercepting private e-mails, and claimed it violated wiretapping laws.
While it isn't a secret that indeed the MPAA did "purchase" private e-mails, the courts ruled it did not violate the federal Wiretap Act. TorrentSpy will be appealing. At the very least, we all know how dirty organizations like the MPAA play. Either way, this is a setback for TorrentSpy, who has come under increased attack from anti-piracy advocates.
