Rather than continue and fight, three of the big e-giants have settled with with the U.S. Government after they were alleged to have supported online gambling. While the EU has been very upset with the U.S. over the policies they enforce on online gambling, it isn't enough to shake the attorneys off Microsoft, Google and Yahoo.

The three companies will be sharing a $31.5 million settlement. Microsoft will be paying $21 million, Yahoo $7.5 million and Google $3 million, which will supposedly be used to educate the public about how illegal online gambling is, among other things.

Fining big companies won't get them anywhere, however, - it is the individual users who want this, and we all know that all the threats in the world (we're looking at you, RIAA) won't stop the people.
