Although by now we already know most of the details on the MSI Wind, the company has just cleared up some of the remaining questions - such as pricing and availability - surrounding the upcoming Eee PC challenger. Two versions of the subnotebook will be available: an 8.9-inch and a 10-inch, though only the 10-inch version will reportedly be available to the US market.
Weighing in at just 2.3 pounds, a SuSE Linux version will feature 512MB of RAM and a 3-cell battery rated at 2.5 hours of use for $399. The $549 XP edition will be just a bit heavier at 2.6 pounds and will come with 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, and a larger 6-cell battery good for 5.5 hours. In addition, both versions will reportedly feature Intel's forthcoming Atom CPU running at 1.6GHz, an 80GB hard drive, 1.3M webcam, a 4-in-1 card reader, and 3 USB ports.
Other notable features include the Wind's ability to lower the CPU performance a bit when working on light tasks such as web browsing or typing notes in order to improve battery life. You can expect the tiny notebook to launch at Computex on June 3.
