Psychonauts is definitely one of a kind. Tim Schafer struck gold with compiling a fantastic story, tight and fun gameplay, and a superb cast of characters all packages with witty dialogue.

A fantastic, imaginative, literally mind-warping platform adventure with heaps of idiosyncratic character and charm. If only a few more of you would buy it.

Issues exist, and that’s going to become painfully clear by the time you’ve dragged yourself to the bloody Meat Circus and its effortless ability to tempt me into endless shots of tequila and manslaughter. Then I’ll nail a few jumps, or hit a few grinds and notice some little detail I’d not seen before, or drag myself to any of the outstanding multi-faceted boss fights. Then I’ll fall right back in love all over again.
Whether you own an Xbox, PlayStation 2 or PC, you'd be doing Tim Schafer and the whole team at Double Fine Productions a huge disservice if this wasn't part of your collection.
For the longest time, this was one of those games I was both intrigued by and wary of. Because of the cult following, I had heard pretty much nothing but good things about it, that it was more or less the best game ever made in the history of best games ever made. So while part of me wanted to check it out and see what all the hub-bub was about, bub, another very large part of me was shooting up red flags and warning flares that spelled out "Too Good To Be True".
This really is a fun game and reminded me a lot of another light selling platformer on Xbox, Voodoo Vince. The same type of hilarity is here, but they diverge into different paths from each other. I’d pick this game up simply to keep Double Fine making games because a world without Tim Schafer making games is a sad world in my opinion.
