Having already lost many hours to the Xbox One version of Ryse, I understand how a mediocre game can still spark your basest instincts, causing you to tap those buttons even when you understand that the ritual has become unhealthy, and even though many superior games deserve the attention you have lavished on a lesser one.
f you played Ryse: Son of Rome on Xbox One, there’s little reason to return on PC. It may contain higher resolutions and a more flexible frame rate, but otherwise it’s substantially the same game. Newcomers should only come for the gorgeous visuals as the gameplay and story don’t quite live up to their potential.
Ryse: Son of Rome's combat and incredible graphics are entertaining, but it's too narrow and repetitive, even for a short...
There is no other launch title for the Xbox One that looks as incredible as Ryse: Son of Rome. Let's just get that out of the way right now. This game looks beautiful from start to finish and Crytek once again shoes off their graphical prowess, but...
The weeks immediately following a brand new console launch are the most difficult time to give a really authentic review of a game. The bar for what is expected of a truly innovative videogame and gameplay is skewed with ambiguity, and often as gamers we...
Ryse is incredibly boring. As Knack is to the PlayStation 4, Ryse: Son of Rome is to the Xbox One. It's a pretty game with a heap of promise that wound up as little more than an exercise in...
Ryse is a big, dumb, shallow, mindless blockbuster of a game, yet one that hooks you with its epic spectacle and can be strangely compelling in short-ish doses. In the words of Maximus Decimus Meridius, “Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are...
Crytek have had a fair streak of bad luck in recent months, especially with Ryse: Son of Rome bombing hard on Xbox One. The lackluster sales didn't help their financial troubles at all and to help give them a boost, they ported Ryse over to PC. Given...
Ultimately, Ryse is a visual stunner, but it lacks depth due to repetitive combat and a short single player campaign. The multiplayer is also someone lacking. For a launch title, Ryse is a little overambitious. As with most Crytek games, it's not much...
Ryse is a bit of a marmite game, if you are looking for a great gaming experience that takes forever to perfect then Ryse is not for you. If you are interested in a Roman interactive movie with a solid story line then I'd say give it a shot.Ryse: Son of...
