TP-Link's Archer CR5400X is a great router even though it doesn't break any new ground in terms of technology or features. I wouldn't call it a "gaming" router though, as it's just a high-end router with few gaming-specific features. Still, it's loaded with features and certainly looks the part.

It'll be polarising in terms of its looks, no doubt, but the TP-Link C5400X is an excellent router with the logical and physical chops to satisfy packet-hungry gamers. It's easy to set up, easy to administer, and easy to forget about once it's...

The Archer C5400X comes out of the gates swinging, and looks to be a top contender in the fight to become your next router. With tri-band Wi-Fi up to 5400 Mbps across a single 2.4GHz band and two 5GHz bands, the C5400X has plenty of bandwidth to go...

That said, if you have $400 to burn, live in a medium home with lots of Wi-Fi device, and are not a hardcore gamer, you will be happy with it. Otherwise, keep in mind that there are many alternatives, like the the Asus RT-AC86U, the Netgear XR500, or the Asus GT-AC5300, that will give you similar performance and more features, for less.

Even if you can’t make use of its massive capacity, it does provide room to grow. And it provides support for recently-improved network standards that ensures the TP-Link Archer C5400X will be just as impressive in five years’ time as it is today. If you’re looking for the best, it should certainly be among your considerations.

By Slash Gear on September 07, 2018

So, there you have it: the Archer C5400X is a serious router with a serious price tag. While it’s hard to imagine anyone outside of the enthusiast crowd putting down the cash for this bad boy, TP-Link could very well find success with that segment of the market. The router is available today from Amazon, with other retailers like Newegg, Fry’s, and Micro Center slated to carry the it as well.
