Hi, I'm just asking to know what security progs are you using.

I know there are a couple of programs out there and I'd like to know about them.

Now, what I'm using is

Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 and
AVG Free 7.1.

Security: There's passive, reactive, and proactive.

Reactive: Wait until there's a problem and then 'fix it' with a tool or some
antivirus program. Problem is, it will reoccur unless you become Proactive.
I'm running Ewido and NAV

Proactive: Bar the gates and repell all boarders! The FIREWALL keeps the little
buggers out (unless of course you invite them by opening any/all attachments).
The cheap and easy way is to just enable the Windows Firewall. Almost any
other is a BETTER choice :)
I run Norton NIS and it is effective.
Also run Spybot S&D, and Spywareblaster to control ActiveX

Passive: This is a setup and forget solution that is a major assistence.
It's called a ROUTER with NAT(Network Address Translation). This will act
very much like a firewall, in that it is not easy to cross from the public WAN
to the private LAN space.

Thanks for the info.

I use Win2k so there's no built-in firewall (In fact I'm practically lying as I found what was practically a firewall in the NIC configuration)

I have a computer with just KPF on it and if I run Spybot and HouseCall by example, there's nothing. I guess that Firefox and not downloading everything helps a bit in this way

Router with NAT.

AVG Network Edition on all machines.

Sygate Personal Firewall (soon to go as Symantec have killed it).
Zone Alarm on servers.

Ewido paid for on main desktop. Adaware on the rest. Spybot run occasionally on all machines.

Does it really matter? I'm sure ZA is less safe than SPF so I guess it's worth keeping.

KPF 2.1.5 is really old(discontinued in mid 2003) but still nothing happenend to me.
