The Osmo Action 4 is a fantastic action camera; it's tiny, rugged, versatile, and crucially it delivers better image quality than its predecessor, packing more detail in challenging shooting environments and low light. A price hike over its predecessor pitches the Action 4 squarely against GoPro's best offerings, and it outdoes the GoPros with its quick and convenient magnetic mounting. This is an incredibly fun and capable camera for your active pursuits and vlogging, and comes highly recommended.

The DJI Osmo Action 4 is the adventure-ready camera to get if you're all about low-light recording, though it doesn't push as many pixels or frames as a GoPro.

In most regards, the DJI Osmo Action 4 seems unchanged from its predecessor. That is until the sun goes down, after which this action camera storms ahead of the competition with its low-light performance.

In some situations, the Osmo Action 4 is so markedly better than the competition in terms of sharpness and realistic natural colors that it will be an easy first choice for many people, and we can easily recommend it. However, its downsides are such that it's not quite the clear current leader in its genre, and which action camera you choose comes down to what features and capabilities you most value.

With excellent image stabilisation, ease of use and a brilliant magnetic mounting system for accessories, the DJI Osmo Action 4 is an excellent rugged action camera that loses out to the likes of GoPro Hero 11 Black only in its lack of 5.7K video resolution. If that’s not important to you, then you’ll love the DJI Osmo Action 4.

The Osmo Action 4 isn't revolutionary in any respect except one – a significant one: the image sensor size leapfrogs the market leader. The camera also extends horizon balancing to useful resolutions and frame rates, and the waterproofing can go deeper. It adds up to mean, except a few scenarios, if you're happy with 4K, this is the best action camera of all.
