Pros:

  • The Zone is the most terrifying place to visit in any gaming department.
  • Lovecraft would be hard pressed to describe something so bleak and unforgiving.
  • The new eye candy such as DX11 and Tessellation.

Cons:

  • Some recycled props, but no where near as many as Clear Sky.
  • Ever present Xray "stutter" is still here when entering a spawn area for the first time.

Dave Bleak, shocking, terrifying, empty, compelling, tough. These are just a few words I scribbled down after my first couple of hours with the latest instalment of the STALKER franchise, and I feel they sum up my experience perfectly.STALKER: Call...

CoP focuses on squad combat with several missions built around gathering and escorting reliable Stalkers. Jump the cordon, catch a helicopter ride, bribe a guard—but get to the Zone. There are bloodthirsty monstrosities, armed fanatics, deadly...

X-ray has come a long way. We’ve seen it evolve for three iterations in the Stalker franchise. It was a buggy birth to say the least when we saw Shadows of Chernobyl don it. Already steep requirements for the time were compounded into some...

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. returns to PC and this gem from Europe proved that you didn't need to be a software gaming giant to make quality first person shooter. Call of Pripyat is the next instalment from this series and follows the story of agent Alexander...

The trilogy is complete – Clear Sky was a prequel to the first game and Call Of Pripyat is the sequel. After the first four hours of playing CoP, and having played both the previous games, I am impressed – CoP is one helluva game and it...

Ukranian developer GSC Game World took PC gaming by the jibblies when it announced the first STALKER game back in late 2001, and the eventual release six years later gave us an interesting, challenging, and unique experience that was unlike any...

The original Shadow of Chernobyl was an incredible game in many ways, offering players an opportunity to explore an exceptionally realized, radiation-blasted setting seeded with horror and entertainment. Yet it was also lacking in a few areas, one...

Call of Pripyat is much more like the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl should have been. It brings together the improvements from Clear Sky, the new feel of the original and focuses on the core experiences of the series. The series prides...

Marking what feels like the 25th entrance in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, the first thing I wrote down after firing up my review copy was, “Man, this feels dated.” This is coming from someone who has never played any of the previous titles,...

It seems apt that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. saga should feature its own anomaly, one that lies outside the series' fiction. The surreal glitches in reality that litter the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, squashing or contorting or combusting anything unlucky...

Like the first two games, STALKER: Call of Pripyat is a game of contradictions. At times it’s glorious and exciting, a further refinement of the now age-old STALKER template. Yet, as ever, most of the idiosyncrasies that define the series are...

GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is a mixed-bag of emotions for gamers. On one hand, the atmosphere and setting are, without a doubt, some of the best designed for a first-person shooter. With that said, the series is also notorious for being...

I'm not ashamed to admit that I uttered some unprintable expletives after S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unceremoniously dumped me into the ominous-as-ever Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. I've been here before, I should be immune to the moans, growls...
