Torchlight is an action role-playing game developed by Runic Games. The graphics are three dimensional and viewed from an overhead perspective, similar to the isometric perspective used in the original Diablo. The PC version of Torchlight is designed to allow extensive modding by players, and Runic Games has released the game editing tools they used to create the game as a free download.
Solid performance.
Good graphics.
Great music.
Good replay value.
Competent story.
A terrific game that perfectly recaptures the spirit of Diablo and improves upon it in many ways.
Colorful visuals.
Plenty of content.
Useful pet companion.
Diablo styled gameplay with some welcome additions.
The pet is brilliant.
Lacks a coop multiplayer game mode.
Critical item could not be accessed during testing.
If you don't dig the lootgrind of actionRPGs, you're going to get bored pretty quickly with its flimsy storyline.
No multiplayer; occasional glitches like getting stuck in the environment.
No online multiplayer in this version.
Does very little that's new.

Dungeon crawlers are a niche within the larger RPG genre and not surprisingly, appeal to a smaller audience. But Torchlight is a really good introduction for novice role playing gamers because it combines intuitive hack and slash combat with an...

Torchlight is another in a line of action RPGs I’ve had the pleasure of playing this year, but by far this has been the most enjoyable of the set. The visuals are very appealing and have a great style to them, the mechanics are simple but deep at...
