Crucial’s X10 Pro external SSD is a solid option for those that need extra capacity outside their laptop or desktop machine that can still offer high speeds irrelevant of location. The small and sleek nature allows users to carry this drive with them very easily, and plug it in via a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 port or higher, to ensure the speeds they get are the highest that this drive can reach.

The X10 Pro weighs approximately 1.5 ounces and comes with an IP55 rating, indicating resistance against dust and water spray. However, full submersion is not advised. Connectivity is achieved through a Type-C connector. Crucial supplies a Type-C to Type-C cable with the device. Notably, a Type-C to Type-A adapter is not part of the package and may be necessary based on individual setups. It is emphasized that the efficacy of a 20Gbps SSD is optimal with a corresponding 20Gbps port, generally associated with the Type-C format.

It looks like the Crucial X10 Pro 2TB is everything that someone like a videographer or photographer would want to complement their workflow. But is what it appears to be backed by reality? To start, I like its lightweight and modern appearance while in a much more compact form factor compared to the Crucial X8 2TB. At the same time, the X10 Pro's build quality is still excellent with its cool-to-touch aluminum enclosure that flexes to nothing.

A new flagship design of the Crucial X-series, the X10 Pro brings security, resilience and performance improvements at a price. The buying public might well conclude that the X8 and X6 are great drives at a tempting price, and the X10 Pro looks overpriced alongside them.

The Crucial X10 Pro external SSD is a go-anywhere data carrier, with ruggedness cred, 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption, and all the speed most users will need.

The Crucial X10 Pro is an excellent portable SSD. But compared to the X9 Pro, it’s a tad expensive, costing around $40 more. If you have a computer with 20Gbps USB and want to squeeze every MB/s out of that, the drive is an excellent buy.

A new flagship for the X Series, the X10 Pro has all the valuable features of the X9 Pro, and with the correct USB port, it can be twice as fast for reading and writing. However, it isn’t cheap, and the Gen 2×2 port isn’t commonly found on laptops or desktops making it more of a specialist purchase.
