The Gigabyte BRIX XM11-3337 comes in four different processor configurations, including the 1.8GHz Celeron 1037U, 1.9GHz Core i3-3227U, 1.8-2.7GHz Core i5-3337U and 2-3.1GHz Core i7-3537U and 8GB of 1600MHz SO-DIMM RAM. With such high pricing, NUC barebones systems still don't seem quite ready for primetime. That isn't to say nobody should own a Brix -- just not those who can't directly benefit from its impressively diminutive body. Although the machine is fast enough for general use, we'd be fools not to recommend one of the better value options over Intel/Gigabyte's solution to small-form-factor computing.

In Gigabyte's attempt to out-Intel the NUC, it's fallen into the same trap as its forbears: the Brix is just too darned small. Considering these aren't portable devices you can use on the go, what's the point in shaving every possible millimeter when...

From a technical perspective, the Gigabyte BRIX GB-XM11-3337 is a tour-de-force, packing a commendable amount of computing power into an incredibly small space. However, it's hardly a cheap option. The price quoted in this review is without the mSATA...

Final Thoughts ]Generally speaking the Core i5 version of the Gigabyte BRIX, which is based on the Core i5-3337U processor, wasn’t overlay fast, at least by desktop standards. However for a computer that measures just 4.5 x 4.24 x 1.18" it was...

Gigabyte have taken Intel’s NUC platform and turned it into a rather sexy looking powerhouse. It may not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but it packs a hugely impressive amount of performance for its tiny size. Gigabyte’s BRIX is an innovative take on the NUC platform and a much needed revamp to the previously boring and homogeneous Atom/Brazos dominated mini PC market.

All things considered, we really like the Gigabyte Brix. While it's more expensive than the Intel NUC, you do get something for your money. The processor is slightly faster, you get a power cord, a WiFi card and more importantly, USB 3.0 ports. Intel will soon release new and better NUC models.

The Gigabyte Brix is a good alternative if you're looking for a compact mini pc. The use of notebook hardware allows for the very small size, and thanks to the mSATA SSD it's also pretty fast. Compared to the Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing)...
