The power consumption levels of the nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset have been dramatically improved. Amazingly the SLI GeForce 9600 GT graphics cards on the nForce 790i Ultra SLI platform used only slightly more power than a single 9600 GT paired with the nForce 780i SLI chipset. We found that when operating in SLI mode the nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset used 20% less power!
As we had mentioned from our observations on thermal output, this is a welcomed change for the nForce series.
