Benchmarks: Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead
On Fallout 3 it looks like we ran into a CPU bottleneck at the lower resolutions, which doesn't happen often on our overclocked Core i7 test system. Still, it's not until we reach 2560x1600 that things seem to iron out and the Radeon HD 4870 X2 takes the lead defeating the GeForce GTX 295 by a small margin. The ENGTX285 TOP was just 9% faster than the original GeForce GTX 280 graphics card at 2560x1600.
Left 4 Dead works well with the dual-GPU cards, particularly those based on Nvidia GPUs. The Asus Extreme NGTX285 TOP could almost be mistaken for a dual-GPU card based on these results, performing within a few frames of the Radeon HD 4870 X2, even at 2560x1600. The ENGTX285 TOP was 24% faster than the original GeForce GTX 280 at this high resolution.
