Like many of the previous tests, 3Dmark2001 SE favors the E6700 with the larger 4MB L2 cache. Despite being clocked 840MHz higher than the non-overclocked E6700 processor, the E6300 is actually slower in 3Dmark2001.
We have learned from past tests that 3Dmark2001 focuses heavily on processor performance rather than graphics. As a result the 3.50GHz configuration was the slowest, which we were still quite surprised about. Things were very different when testing with 3Dmark2006 which placed the overclocked E6300 on par with the non-overclocked E6700 processors.
