PC shipments on steady growth

According to reports from market researchers IDC and Gartner, PC shipments during the second quarter remained strong, on a double-digit growth figure compared to a year ago. Dell remained on top of total units shipped, both worldwide and in the US, followed by HP and IBM.

"Driven by demand for replacement PCs from business users, a total of 42.8 million PCs were shipped worldwide in the second quarter, 13.3 percent more than in the year-earlier period, Gartner says in a statement. The growth was in line with expectations, Gartner says."
