DoJ launches P2P probe for pirates

The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a federal criminal probe of piracy on a peer-to-peer network, suspected of enabling users to traffic illegally in music, films, software and published works.

The network in question are the Underground Network. Five homes and one ISP in three different states have been searched by Federal agents, under "Operation Digital Gridlock". No charges have yet been filed, but it doesn't take a member of Mensa to work out that this portends really bad stuff for similar networks in the future.
