Amazon is expanding its Web services to include additional guidelines and data designed for parties who link to its site. Amazon E-Commerce Service 4.0, for example, offers application developers more detailed information on products being sold on its site. The Alexa Web Information Service will provide access to the database of Amazon's Web site usage data. Amazon plans to use this technology and guidelines as part of their emerging strategy of increasing sales by allowing developers to tap directly into its e-commerce network. Many e-commerce sites or other Web business have now been encouraged to become partners and build links into Amazon's product databases.
