The empire of Nvidia may not be all it seems, with Nvidia shipping less standalone desktop graphics cards than its rival ATI. As of Q3 of this year, the firm's market share is at 37 percent - compared with 50 percent in the same period of 2003. ATI which was able to ship 55 percent of all standalone desktop graphic ships in the most recent quarter, up from 38 percent in 2003.
However, Nvidia today announced higher than expected earnings, so things can't be that bad. But one can't deny, ATI have really upped the stakes in the last year or so many times.
